NYP/Columbia has a strong curriculum in Family Medicine with strengths in underserved care,
Community Oriented Primary Care, inpatient Family Medicine, and women's health. Our
energetic and diverse group of residents and faculty really demonstrate how NYC is a wonderful
place to practice Family Medicine.
If you would like to apply for the 2012 match, here is some information about our program
application criteria and requirements:
1. We require three letters of recommendation, your dean's letter, and your transcript.
2. While we look at an applicant's entire package, we prefer a USMLE minimum score of 80
with no more than one failed attempt on taking the exams. This is to ensure our residents
will be able to pass the Family Medicine boards.
3. We do accept qualified international medical graduates but do not sponsor J1 or H1 visas.
4. International medical graduates must be ECFMG certified prior to applying. (you can
contact the ECFMG at (215) 386-5900).
5. We accept applications no more than five years after the date of medical school graduation.
6. We require applicants to have clinical experience in the United States at least one year hands
on.
The Residency program participates in the annual Main Residency Match of the National
